Major Update for Your Pixel Buds: Gemini AI Coming to Older Models
AI updates are now available for older headphone models, significantly enhancing their performance. Interested in how these updates could improve your listening experience?
Technological Innovation at the Service of Listening
Imagine a world where your headphones do more than just play music. Google is making this a reality with their new noise-cancelling wireless earbuds, the Pixel Buds Pro 2. These come equipped with built-in Gemini AI technology, activating right out of their eco-friendly cardboard packaging.
Gemini AI: More Than Just an Assistant
With a simple press on an earbud, summon the AI assistant. Think of it as a smarter version of Siri, Google Assistant, or Bixby. You can also ask Gemini Live for creative boosts or to find the best travel routes for a 2025 Maldives vacation.
An Update for Older Models
The good news doesn’t end there. According to 9to5Google, this feature will also be rolled out to older Pixel Buds models. Owners of previous Pixel Buds will soon see Google Assistant replaced by Gemini AI features, bridging the gap between the old models and the new Pixel Buds Pro 2 with more AI capabilities.
However, Google notes that some features may work differently with Gemini than with Google Assistant. For example, removing the earbuds requires a device unlock reset before Gemini can be reactivated.
When Can You Enjoy These Features?
The update schedule remains uncertain for now. Google only hints that it is “coming soon,” but we will keep you updated as soon as you can access these features with your earbuds.
This is great news for users of older Buds and a significant advancement for budget-friendly smart wireless devices. It makes it harder to justify upgrading to the new model, keeping older Buds competitive with the brand-new Buds Pro 2.
