Max to Begin Crackdown on Password Sharing Soon

Max is set to crack down on password sharing. Find out when this new policy will be implemented.
Major Change for Max Users
A recent announcement from Warner Bros. Discovery signals the potential end of account sharing on Max. JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming and Games, has stated that a crackdown on password sharing will commence within days.
If you’re currently using a friend’s or family member’s account to watch your favorite shows on Max, it might be wise to start considering alternative options.
How Will the Password Sharing Crackdown on Max Work?
Earlier this year, Max confirmed plans to follow in the footsteps of Disney Plus and Netflix by initiating a similar campaign against password sharing. According to Perrette, Max will introduce a feature similar to Netflix’s “add a member” to your account option.
This means you can add an extra person to your Max account, likely at a cost lower than having two separate subscriptions.
A Gradual Implementation
Perrette clarified that the new measures would be implemented gradually. “We will start by sending gentle reminders to those we believe are heavy users,” he said during a conference. He also noted that the system would increasingly tighten over time, and this initiative could significantly drive company growth, particularly from the second half of 2025 into 2026.
Details regarding the pricing of additional accounts on Max and how it will affect Discovery Plus users remain unclear. However, we will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated on any new developments.
