Explore the latest features of Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses, now including Shazam and AI technology for an even more innovative and immersive user experience.

Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses: Constantly Evolving Technology

The second-generation Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses have garnered acclaim since their launch. Thanks to Meta’s artificial intelligence, they have been consistently improving, even transforming mundane activities like shopping.

A Major Update

The latest update, presented at Meta Connect in September, is the most significant yet, introducing three new features. However, two are only available to early access program participants and all are currently exclusive to U.S. and Canadian residents.

According to Meta’s blog, these enhancements arrived with software update v11. The first, available outside the early access program, integrates Shazam. Now, if you hear a song amidst the seasonal jingles and wonder, “Hey Meta, what’s that song?” your glasses can listen and identify it for you using their microphone.

The Benefits of Early Access

The other two features require early access membership. The first, Live AI, adds video to Meta AI on your glasses. When activated, Meta AI can “see” what you’re looking at and discuss it naturally, proving handy when your hands are busy, like while cooking or gardening, or simply on the go.

Live Translation: A Revolutionary Feature

The most exciting feature, in my opinion, is live translation. It promises to let you understand foreign languages without ever learning them. When activated, if someone speaks to you in French, Italian, or Spanish, real-time translation will be provided through the speakers or as text on your phone.

These last two AI features also require early access membership. If you’re in North America, you can sign up here, though it’s described as joining a waitlist, suggesting acceptance is not guaranteed.

What’s Next?

These features will eventually be rolled out to all users, and Meta hints at more updates coming soon. “We’ll be back with more software updates—and maybe a few surprises—in 2025,” the post mysteriously concludes.
