Meta to Launch $1000 Smart Glasses with Built-In Display Soon
Discover the features of Meta's new smart glasses, equipped with an integrated display, set to launch this year at a cost of $1000.
Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses: A Technological Revolution Within Reach
Technological breakthroughs are on the horizon, potentially transforming everyday life. Bloomberg reports that Meta plans to launch its premium smart glasses, the Ray-Ban Meta, featuring an integrated display, by year’s end, possibly debuting at the annual Meta Connect event.
How Do Ray-Ban Meta Glasses Work?
How will these futuristic glasses operate? According to Bloomberg, they will include capacitive touch control, hand gestures, and a suite of applications displayed in the lower corner of the right lens. Meta views this year as pivotal for smart glasses, especially with the upcoming launch of Android XR and a partnership with Xreal.
The first version will feature a small monocular display in the right lens, enabling users to receive phone notifications, view photos, and even see navigational directions—all controlled by taps or swipes on the frame’s capacitive touch surface or by hand gestures detected by an sEMG bracelet (codenamed Ceres).
A Hefty Price for Advanced Features
The glasses are expected to cost around $1300 to $1400. While pricey, they offer advanced features such as an integrated display and applications. However, it’s important to note that this product targets early adopters willing to invest in new technology.
If Meta can deliver a product that is both aesthetically pleasing and technologically sophisticated, and if it finds a key application that makes these glasses essential for daily use, the company could take a significant lead in the smart glasses industry.
As we await the end of the year to see if these promises hold true, we can only imagine the possibilities that these glasses might unlock.
