New Era of Trading: The Essential Pokémon TCG Update

The Pokémon TCG app is soon introducing an exciting new feature: card trading. Fans will have the opportunity to swap duplicates and enhance their collections in a fun, interactive way.
A Fresh Wind Blows on Pokémon TCG Pocket
Launched on October 30, 2024, Pokémon TCG Pocket is a free mobile app that has quickly captivated millions by allowing players to collect digital Pokémon cards, build custom decks, and engage in fast-paced duels. Within just three days of its release, the app hit 10 million downloads, escalating to 30 million by November 8, and surpassing 60 million by December 12. It is available in 89 countries on both iOS and Android, although local regulations have restricted access in countries like the Netherlands and Belgium.
Exciting news for fans: a highly anticipated trading feature will be introduced to the app this month, enabling players to trade cards with each other, thereby adding a new layer to the game’s dynamics.
Trading With Restrictions
However, trading will come with limitations. Only friends can trade among each other, and cards must be of equivalent rarity. This may curb players’ abilities to acquire new cards, especially since the highest three rarity levels of cards cannot currently be traded. Additionally, trades will require the consumption of specific, yet undisclosed, items. Initially, only cards from the Genetic Apex and Mythical Island expansion packs will be tradable, with plans to expand available packs in the future.
An Ever-Evolving Future
No specific launch date has been set for this trading feature, but the Pokémon Company is actively seeking player feedback to enhance the app’s features. This upcoming update is expected to refresh Pokémon TCG Pocket by offering players new ways to interact and customize their decks. Despite some initial restrictions, this trading feature is poised to enrich the gaming experience and add an exciting element to challenges among friends.
