You can now pre-order it for just $30. Isn't that a great deal to take advantage of?

An Eco-Friendly Tamagotchi

Japanese company Bandai has recently unveiled a new Tamagotchi model crafted surprisingly from recycled eggshells. Reflecting the product’s egg-like shape, this material choice harmonizes perfectly with the Tamagotchi’s essence. The name ‘Tamagotchi’ itself is derived from the Japanese words “tamago” (egg) and “uotchi” (watch).

Tamagotchi’s Renaissance

The Tamagotchi has transcended its status as a mere 90s nostalgia piece. It has seen a quiet yet significant resurgence in popularity recently, fueled by both former players reminiscing about their childhood toy and new children excited to explore this digital companion.

Last May, Bandai reignited nostalgia by re-releasing the Tamagotchi Connection, recognized by veterans for its faux antenna. Additionally, last year saw the launch of the Tamagotchi Uni, equipped with Wi-Fi and access to the Tamaverse, a virtual space where players can meet and customize their characters.

A Return to Origins

The new model, dubbed “Original Tamagotchi Celebration”, lacks the modern features of the Tamagotchi Uni but offers a basic experience true to the original. Players will need to care for their Tamagotchi, feeding, healing, cleaning up after, playing with, and even disciplining it if it misbehaves.

This model is exclusively available on Amazon, where it is currently on pre-order for $30.

A Responsible Purchase?

By using recycled paper for packaging and recycled eggshells for the Tamagotchis, Bandai is committed to “promoting a greener future.” A step in the right direction that might appeal to environmentally conscious consumers.
