A Mysterious New Feature from Nintendo Awaits Testing

Nintendo, the renowned Japanese gaming giant, is calling on 10,000 users to test a secret new feature for its Switch Online service. Details about this new feature remain tightly under wraps.

Who Can Apply?

Only subscribers of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack can apply to participate in the “Playtest Program”. This package, priced at $50 annually, expands the subscription service’s game library with titles from Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy Advance. It also provides free access to downloadable content for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Splatoon 2.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have an account registered in Japan, the USA, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, or Spain. To apply, candidates need to navigate to the bottom of Nintendo’s announcement and click the “To Application Page” link.

Recruitment Process and Timeline

Nintendo will start accepting applications today, October 10, at 8 AM PT/11 AM ET, until November 5 at 4:59 PM PT/7:59 PM ET. If the response is overwhelming, Japanese applicants will be chosen by lottery. Others must act quickly, as the selection will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Furthermore, Nintendo reserves the right to close registrations early if the maximum number of participants is reached quickly.
