Nintendo Switch 2 Could Speed Up Game Loading
Available information suggests that the Nintendo Switch 2 may feature faster game loading times, enhancing the overall gaming experience.
The Imminent Launch of the Nintendo Switch 2
The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is set to hit the market early next year. Details about its technical capabilities are slowly surfacing, indicating a powerful and efficient device.
A Promising Technology: SD Express
An intriguing hint was spotted by YouTuber SuperMetalDave64 in a job listing on Nintendo of America’s website. The company is seeking an electromechanical engineer with experience in “speed signaling and power delivery” on PCB designs that include PCIe, DDR4, MIPI, and SD/SD Express components. This suggests that the new console might incorporate SD Express technology.
Only on the market for a few years, SD Express technology delivers read speeds up to 985 MB/s – almost equivalent to an SSD but in a much more compact form. If the Switch 2 includes this technology, it could mean faster load times and smoother gameplay, even for high-budget games.
Increased Competition
Despite these advancements, it’s important to note that the next generation of PlayStation and Xbox consoles are expected to be more powerful than the Switch 2, as is currently the case. Additionally, rumors suggest that Samsung and Sony are also developing new portable consoles, which could heighten the competition.
We just have to wait to see if the “Switch 2 will indeed utilize SD Express technology”, and how it will be implemented. Stay tuned for more updates!
