The Nubia Z70 Ultra: A Revolutionary New Smartphone
The smartphone arena has been dramatically shaken up with the entry of a new player. Chinese manufacturer Nubia has taken everyone by surprise as the first to incorporate the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset in its latest creation, the Nubia Z70 Ultra, now open for orders.
Nubia, a smartphone manufacturer based in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, was founded in 2012 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of ZTE and became independent in 2015. In 2017, ZTE reduced its stake in Nubia to 49.9%, making Nubia an associate company rather than a subsidiary.
Impressive Technical Specifications
This new device does more than just feature a cutting-edge processor. It boasts a 6.85-inch display with a resolution of 2,688 x 1,216 pixels and a 144Hz refresh rate, a 6,150mAh battery with 80w fast charging, and up to 24GB of RAM.
High-Quality Camera Setup
In terms of photography, the Nubia Z70 Ultra does not disappoint either. It features a triple camera setup including a 64MP telephoto camera and two 50MP lenses for regular and ultra-wide shots. Additionally, the main sensor’s “adjustable physical aperture of 35mm” is sure to appeal to photography enthusiasts.
Enhanced Performance
At the heart of this new device is the Snapdragon 8 Elite, a 3nm processor whose performance significantly exceeds its predecessor, offering a 45% performance boost in single and multi-core tasks. Despite lacking efficiency cores this time, Qualcomm has achieved a 44% improvement in energy efficiency.
A Promising Future
While the real-world performance of the Snapdragon 8 Elite remains to be tested, initial benchmark tests conducted by Qualcomm on demo devices have shown very promising results. It is likely that other smartphone manufacturers, such as Samsung with its upcoming Galaxy S25, will adopt this new processor in their future models.
For those eager to experience it, the Nubia Z70 Ultra is available starting at $829, with shipping expected from December 5th.
