The OnePlus 13: A New Era for Mid-Range Smartphones
Smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is gearing up to unveil its latest flagship, the OnePlus 13, in the Chinese market by the end of October. A recent leak, however, has exposed a mid-range version of this phone that appears particularly powerful.
A Revealing Leak
The leak comes from the well-known source Digital Chat Station (via Android Authority), which shared potential specifications of the phone on the Chinese social network Weibo. The post highlighted: “Mid-range new phone test IMX906 main camera + JN1 vertical telephoto, image algorithm can be used on FX8, 1.5K BOE X2 pure straight screen, 6-beginning silicon battery density is considerable, this generation of SM8750 is greatly accelerated, there will be new thing.“
Impressive Technical Specifications
The specifications released by DCS suggest a OnePlus phone equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip, a 1.5K flat screen, and a robust 6,000 mAh battery. It also appears to include a 50MP telephoto lens, Oppo Find X8 image processing technology, and a main Sony IMX906 camera (1/1.56 inch sensor). These features indicate a phone that could quickly become one of the top OnePlus phones, if not one of the best mid-range phones on the market.
It’s noteworthy that most smartphones sold in the U.S. do not have batteries larger than 5,000 mAh, making this new OnePlus model particularly sturdy compared to most other phones.
A Potential Member of the OnePlus Ace Series
Although Digital Chat Station did not name the phone, it is likely part of the OnePlus Ace series. The most recent Ace phone produced by the company was the Ace 3 Pro, launched in July 2024, featuring OnePlus’s “Glacier” battery. Following previous trends, this phone could hit the market in 2025 as the OnePlus 13R.
It’s important to remember that OnePlus R phones typically use older processors to cut costs. So, despite the revealed specifications, it wouldn’t be surprising if the 13R comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. However, OnePlus has a history of surpassing expectations with unexpectedly powerful phones.
