OnePlus Watch 3 Aims to Outdo Apple Watch with 5-Day Battery Life

OnePlus Watch 3: The Technological Leap Forward
Building on the modest success of its predecessor, the OnePlus Watch 3 is set to redefine expectations. Slated for release in America and Europe on February 18, the watch sports a sleek, Apple Watch-inspired design and boasts a battery life that eclipses top Android smartwatches.
Record-Breaking Battery Life
The OnePlus Watch 3 offers an impressive 120-hour battery life, or five full days on a single charge, outperforming the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra by three days and the Pixel Watch 3 by three and a half days. Achieving this requires disabling the energy-consuming always-on display, but with further feature reductions, the Watch 3 can last up to 16 days using its power-saving settings, reports 9to5Google.
Performance and Efficiency
Like the OnePlus Watch 2, this longevity is achieved using two distinct chipsets: the same Snapdragon W5 chip as before and a new BES2800 chip for enhanced efficiency. By relying on the less powerful chip for certain tasks and times, the OnePlus Watch 3 is expected to significantly outperform its rivals.
“Our software seamlessly switches between these two chipsets, allowing the OnePlus Watch 3 to operate with maximum efficiency and achieve a perfect balance between peak performance and extended battery life,” Celina Shi, OnePlus Europe’s marketing head, told TechRadar. “Additionally, we’ve increased the battery capacity to 631mAH and equipped it with the OnePlus Silicon NanoStack battery, the same technology used in our latest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 13, which significantly enhances energy density for sustained power.”
Innovative Navigation
While the overall design has seen minor updates, the standout new feature is the rotating digital crown, which introduces a novel way to interact with the watch, alongside the touchscreen, for scrolling and selecting apps—a feature long present in top-tier Apple Watches.
“We developed the rotating crown in response to our community’s call to enhance its functionality,” Shi explained. “With the ability to press and turn, the rotating crown makes navigating through apps and menus both efficient and intuitive, ultimately enhancing the user experience.” The price of the OnePlus Watch 3 is yet undisclosed, but potential buyers can sign up for notifications and a $30 discount on launch.
