OpenAI Grants Free Unlimited Access to GPT-5 for ChatGPT Users

OpenAI has announced that ChatGPT users will now have free, unlimited access to GPT-5, enhancing their interaction experience significantly.
OpenAI: Toward More Intuitive AI
The upcoming update of OpenAI’s technology, GPT-5, will incorporate its o3 reasoning model and will be available for free to users, announced Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, during the company’s roadmap presentation.
Unifying Artificial Intelligence
OpenAI aims to simplify interactions with its ChatGPT chatbot. “We want AI to ‘just work’ for you, recognizing the complexity of our models and product offerings,” said Altman. The goal is to return to a “magically unified intelligence,” moving away from the current model selector.
The Road to GPT-5
The next significant step is GPT-4.5, which will be the “last non-chained model” from OpenAI, according to Altman. This means all subsequent versions will be capable of solving problems by breaking them down into a series of intermediate steps. OpenAI’s main goal after the release of GPT-4.5 is to merge the o-series and GPT-series models to create systems that can use all their tools and think effectively.
What to Expect from GPT-5?
GPT-5 will integrate much of OpenAI’s technologies, including o3 and the recent Deep Research feature. Altman clarified that this model will not be released as a standalone model as previously announced. He did not provide a specific timetable for the launches of GPT-4.5 and GPT-5, only indicating that they could arrive in the coming weeks or months.
Once GPT-5 is available, OpenAI plans to provide free users with unlimited access to the model, subject to usage limits, while Plus and Pro users will enjoy a higher level of intelligence.
