Oppo Find X8: Explore the Revolutionary Button That Works Underwater
The first Android competitor to the iPhone 16 Pro's camera control feature has arrived, unsurprisingly.
Oppo and the Innovative Control Button
The upcoming release of the Oppo Find X8 smartphone is set to feature a familiar, yet freshly revealed functionality akin to the iPhone 16 Pro. Zhou Yibao, a product manager at Oppo, stated that the device will include a pressure-sensitive camera shutter button.
In a video posted on the Chinese social media site Weibo, Yibao showcased the control button’s utility. It displayed someone pressing the button to launch the camera app and snap photos. Similar to Apple’s camera control button, it allows users to zoom in or out with a simple finger slide.

Underwater Control Button
An intriguing feature of this control button, as shown in the video, is its underwater functionality. This allows for camera operation even when the touchscreen is unavailable.
A Feature Already in Development
It’s important to note that Oppo is not the only Chinese smartphone maker integrating this feature into its upcoming devices. This revelation came the same week as Apple’s Glowtime event, where the iPhone 16 series was unveiled. Realme and Nubia also introduced their versions of the camera control button during this period.
Furthermore, the concept of a distinct shutter button is not new. The Sony Xperia 1 VI already features a separate camera button, and phone manufacturers like Nokia and HTC have incorporated separate camera controls in various devices for years.
The Upcoming Launch of Oppo Find X8
The Oppo Find X8 is scheduled to launch in China by the end of October. Typically, Oppo’s phones are released globally a few months later, indicating a likely international rollout in 2025. Besides the camera control button, the Find X8 is expected to feature enhanced cameras and a refreshed design.
