Potential Leak of Nintendo Switch 2 Design by Case Manufacturer

A case manufacturer may have revealed the design of the Nintendo Switch 2, potentially showcasing the actual look of the upcoming console.
A Fresh Look at the Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2
Video game titan Nintendo has announced plans to unveil the next generation of its hit console, the Switch, by the end of the fiscal year in March 2025. Recent days have seen a flurry of leaks about its design.
Dbrand Reveals a Prototype
The device customization company, Dbrand, risked Nintendo’s ire by publishing a 360-degree mockup of the Switch 2, complete with its dimensions. This mockup serves as a preview of Dbrand’s upcoming “Killswitch 2” case, which is notably transparent, offering a clear view of the console.
Detailed Information Despite Some Mysteries
Dbrand’s CEO, Adam Ijaz, told The Verge that the prototype is based on a “3D scan of the actual hardware,” ensuring accurate dimensions. He revealed that the Switch 2 is larger than the Switch OLED, with dimensions of 270 x 116 x 14mm compared to 242 x 102 x 13.9mm for the OLED model. However, it remains more compact than current gaming laptops like Valve’s Steam Deck or Asus’ ROG Ally.
Ijaz also noted that of the 270mm width, 200mm is the screen, with each Joy-Con being 35mm wide. He mentioned that Nintendo has opted for a magnetic connection for the controllers, including an “ejection button.” Yet, mysteries remain, such as the purpose of a new square button below the Home button, marked with a ‘C’, or whether the display type will be LCD or OLED.
Release Date Still Uncertain
Despite these revelations, the release date for the Switch 2 is still up in the air. However, Dbrand plans to have its case ready by late March or early April, “just in case.” While hardware power rumors vary, one thing is for sure: Nintendo has officially confirmed that the new console will be compatible with current Switch games.
