PUBG Creator Launches Palworld on Mobile

In a dispute with Nintendo, Krafton has secured a publishing deal with the creator Pocketpair.
A Meteoric Rise for Palworld
After announcing availability on all Apple chip-equipped Macs, Palworld, the video game that captivated fans upon its January release, is set to hit mobile devices soon. Krafton, the publisher behind PUBG: Battlegrounds, has inked a licensing deal with Pocketpair, the game’s creator, to develop a mobile version of this global sensation.
Gameplay Reimagined by PUBG Studios
The mobile adaptation will be developed by PUBG Studios, a Krafton subsidiary. However, details remain sparse. According to an automated translation of a Korean press release, PUBG Studios plans to “reinterpret” the gameplay of Palworld for mobile devices, leaving it unclear whether the mobile version will be a direct port or merely incorporate some of its features.
Record-Breaking Sales for Palworld
Palworld achieved extraordinary success right from launch, selling over a million copies within just eight hours. Within a month, the game hit an impressive 15 million sales on Steam, quickly amassed 10 million players on Xbox, and marked the biggest third-party launch ever on Game Pass.
Legal Troubles Ahead?
However, Palworld‘s similarity to Pokémon, where players also capture a variety of monsters that can be armed and even eaten, has caught the attention of Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. In January, the latter began investigating this potential rival. By September, both companies had filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair in Japan for alleged patent infringement.
