Qualcomm’s Next Premium Mobile Processor to be Snapdragon 8 Elite

Having made a splash in the laptop market, Qualcomm is now launching its latest processor in smartphones.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite: A Revolution in High-End Smartphones
Qualcomm has unveiled its flagship mobile processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, designed for premium smartphones and packed with significant innovations over its predecessors.
Enhanced Performance and Optimized Energy Efficiency
According to Videocardz, the Snapdragon 8 Elite employs the Oryon CPU, first introduced in last year’s X Elite chips for laptops. This processor adopts a cutting-edge 3nm design technique, replacing the previous 4nm process. This innovation boosts the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s single and multi-core performance by 45%, while reducing energy consumption by 27% compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
In addition to these enhancements, Qualcomm has improved the device’s generative AI capabilities. The Snapdragon 8 Elite’s Neural Processing Unit (NPU) is 45% faster than its predecessor, and gaming performance has increased by 40%.
Promising Initial Benchmarks
Early tests for the Snapdragon 8 Elite are highly promising. Reports from Smartprix and Onleaks show it scoring 3,025,991 on Antutu, significantly higher than the top score of about 2.1 million for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Given the strong performance of the Oryon CPU in devices like the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop Copilot+ PCs, it is expected that it will deliver outstanding performance in smartphones as well. However, we will have to wait for Qualcomm’s official details at the Snapdragon summit for confirmation.
