Rakuten Viber expands group video calls for up to 30 participants
The feature will be beneficial for student groups and school classes, mid-size teams and online
Led by the desire to support local communities the leading messaging app for free and secure communication Viber announced that it will expand its group video calls capacity to up to 30 participants on one call globally.
In the era of the new normal and the consecutive waves of lock-downs introduced across Europe the expansion of group video calls with a maximum capacity of users up to 30 participants is a perfect solution for schooling and after-class educational consultations, remote
work teams gathering and larger family meetings.
“Viber is one of the most popular messaging apps and we are constantly working on different upgrades of our platform so we could be as relevant as possible to our users worldwide in all the occasions that they have throughout their day. We believe that by this gradual expansion of our video call capacities more people can stay connected and continue their productive cooperation online, especially in the educational and work context” shares Atanas Raykov – Senior Director – EMENA at Rakuten Viber.
To start a Group Video Call a user simply needs to:
- Tap the “video” button on the top of the screen, or simply add more participants to an ongoing video call or call directly an already existing group and select the participants.
- Enjoy seeing and talking with friends, family members, school mates or colleagues.
The announcement comes weeks after the messaging app has introduced grid view on both desktop and mobile platforms so people could interact easier with each other during video calls. The feature will be live both for Android and IOS and works on mobile and Desktop. The group video calls capacity will be extended further in the next months.
