Make way for innovation! Apple’s latest release, the iPhone 16, is set to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) to the mobile world. However, the precise timeline for the rollout of these AI-driven features remains uncertain.
When Can We Experience AI on Our iPhones?
According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, the general public will get to experience Apple’s AI with the release of iOS 18.1 from beta at the end of October. Apple shifted its earlier mid-October release date to “ensure major bugs are ironed out and it can handle the surge of new traffic on its AI cloud servers,” as millions of users download the update. iOS 18.1, set for release on Monday, October 28, will introduce AI-powered notification summaries, a new Clean Up tool to remove unwanted people and objects from photos, and more.
Which iPhones Will Benefit from These New Features?
Note that you’ll need one of the latest iPhones to use these new features. Apple’s AI is restricted to the iPhone 16 series, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. While other iOS 18 compatible phones can download updates like iOS 18.1, they will not be able to run Apple’s AI features.
What Are the New Features of Apple’s AI?
You can preview the new Apple AI features by downloading the public beta version of iOS 18.1 on a compatible phone before the full release on October 28. Here are all the Apple AI features you will find when you upgrade to iOS 18.1:
Writing Tools: Available in any app on your iPhone where you type, these AI-driven tools will help you refine your text or generate ideas by checking your spelling and grammar, summarizing text, and offering rephrasing suggestions tailored to a specific tone.
Photo Features: You’ll discover three new enhancements in the Photos app: Clean Up, a tool that removes unwanted people and objects from your photos; a Memory Movie function that can create a slideshow from photos and videos in your library with just a text prompt; and the added option to search for old photos and videos using natural language.
Summaries: iPhones that support Apple’s AI will benefit from the added feature of automatically generating summaries and transcriptions of recordings, whether they are phone calls or using the new audio recording feature added to iOS 18 Notes.
As for the full deployment of Apple’s AI, rumors suggest we might be waiting until at least early next year before the public can access all the AI-powered features Apple has promised so far. But of course, until we hear officially from Apple, all this remains speculation for now.
