Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 May Feature This Upgrade from Galaxy Z Fold FE
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to feature upgrades inspired by the Galaxy Z Fold FE, potentially setting new standards in performance and technological innovation.
A New Generation of Samsung Phones on the Horizon
In the smartphone industry, Samsung has consistently led with innovation. Recent insights indicate that the tech giant is gearing up for a significant upgrade in its next generation of foldable phones, likely in response to critiques about the screen size of the Z Fold series.
Inspired by an Exclusive Korean Model
Admirers of the Samsung Foldable series were let down by the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s screen size, which only saw a minor increase from its predecessor. However, display analyst Ross Young recently hinted that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 might mirror a device exclusively sold in China and Korea. According to Young, “The Fold 7 is expected to have the same screen sizes as the Fold 6 SE. Thus, the Fold 6 SE will essentially become the Fold 7”. This implies a significant screen size boost, with an inner screen of about 8 inches and an outer screen of 6.5 inches.
Necessary Improvements
The increase in screen size is certainly good news, but Samsung still needs to enhance the usability of the external screen. User experiences have shown that the external screen is often too narrow to use comfortably, especially when the phone is in a case.
Rumors of a Slimmer Design
Beyond screen size enhancements, there are also rumors about the Z Fold 7’s design. TM Roh, the head of Samsung’s mobile division, expressed a desire for the Z Fold 7 to be as thin as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. For reference, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is 8.6 mm thick, compared to 12.1 mm for the Z Fold 6. This would be a significant reduction, and it will be interesting to see how Samsung achieves this.
As competition heats up in the foldable phone market with contenders like the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Samsung will need to deliver something special with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 to maintain its market leadership. Only time will tell if the tech giant can meet this challenge.
