Samsung Set to Launch a Triple-Fold Phone Next Year – Initial Design Details Revealed

Samsung is developing a triple-fold smartphone designed to outdo competitors with its innovative design, enhanced screen protection, and a 10-inch display when unfolded.
Samsung Leads Innovation in Foldable Smartphones
It appears that Samsung is set to revolutionize the foldable phone industry with a new triple-folding smartphone. Despite Huawei’s significant progress with the launch of the Mate XT last September, Samsung is undeterred and plans to release its groundbreaking device next year.
Enhanced Protection with an “Infolding” Screen
According to leaks from the Korean publication ET Online, Samsung’s upcoming device will feature a unique “infolding” design, distinct from Huawei’s approach. This design folds inward, likely enhancing screen protection from drops and impacts, and boasts an expansive unfolded display size of 9 to 10 inches.
Prototype Peek at CES 2022
At CES 2022, Samsung showcased foldable device prototypes named Flex S and Flex G. The Flex S mirrored Huawei Mate XT’s folding mechanism, while Flex G incorporated an inward-folding screen without an external display.
An insider told ET Online: “The recently launched double-folding phone in China folds both inward and outward, but Samsung Electronics opted for the double inward fold considering reliability issues. If it folds outward, the display faces more vulnerability to falls or impacts.”
What About the Competition?
Notably, Apple is also entering the foldable smartphone market with its iPhone Flip, though reports suggest it won’t launch until at least 2026. It remains to be seen how Samsung and other competitors advance in this rapidly evolving field.
