Samsung Set to Unveil Wearable Extended Reality Device Next Year

During a financial results conference, the company announced plans to introduce more affordable foldable phones.
Samsung Embraces the Future with Extended Reality
Samsung has announced plans to launch its Extended Reality (XR) device next year, as revealed in its latest financial results report. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity across its products to “improve user experience within the Galaxy ecosystem.”
This move is part of Samsung’s ongoing project to develop a wearable device that incorporates augmented, mixed, and virtual reality technologies, first unveiled at last year’s Galaxy S23 Unpacked event. Powered by a Qualcomm chip, the device will operate on a special Android version tailored for wearable displays, developed by Google.
Uncertain Launch Timeline
However, the financial report did not disclose specific details about the device’s launch. As 9to5Google noted, Samsung had initially planned to release a developer version of the device in October 2024, but this did not materialize. Thus, there is no certainty that the device will be available next year.
Towards More Affordable Foldable Phones
During the same earnings call, Samsung’s Executive Vice President, Jaejune Kim, hinted at the possibility of developing a more affordable foldable phone. Given the “high satisfaction levels” with their current foldable models, Samsung is exploring ways to “ease the purchase” and make these innovative phones accessible to a broader audience.
Spotlight on S25 Series and AI Enhancements
Samsung also confirmed the launch of the S25 series next year, focusing on AI features and enhancing AI capabilities specifically for foldable phones. This strategy underscores Samsung’s commitment to maintaining its leadership in the tech industry.
