SiCarrier: The Stealthy Startup Disrupting Semiconductor Giants

Backed by Shenzhen, SiCarrier is making waves with its advancements in DUV lithography. Its presence at Semicon China could signal a pivotal moment for China's tech industry.
SiCarrier: A Rising Star in the Semiconductor Industry
SiCarrier, a chip-making equipment manufacturer backed by the Shenzhen government, is set to showcase its latest innovations at Semicon China. This three-day annual event, hosted by the American industrial association SEMI, provides the perfect platform for SiCarrier to stamp its mark on the global tech scene.
A Major Technological Breakthrough
In 2023, SiCarrier surprised the industry by securing a patent for a 5-nanometer chip production technique using deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography, hailed as a technological revolution. There’s buzz about this technology potentially being used by “Huawei to produce a 7 nm chip for its Mate 60 Pro smartphone in 2024”, although neither SiCarrier nor Huawei have officially confirmed these rumors.
A Discreet Entity in the Tech Landscape
Founded in 2021 amidst US technological sanctions against Huawei, SiCarrier has maintained a low profile. Its website lists only four basic chip-making tools and reveals no information about its owners or top executives. Despite this secrecy, SiCarrier explicitly commits to respecting third-party intellectual property rights.
A Promising Future
Following a recent post on its WeChat account detailing its activities at Semicon China (March 26-28), SiCarrier reaffirms its ambition. The company declares itself as “a core provider of semiconductor equipment” and emphasizes its dedication to developing “advanced semiconductor equipment” to bolster the Chinese chip industry.
