Samsung Unveils the Galaxy Z Fold SE

On October 25, Friday, Samsung is set to expand its Galaxy Z Fold series with the introduction of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (SE), which will only be available in Korea and China.

A Lighter, More Powerful Phone

The SE stands out for its sleekness and lightness compared to other models in the series. It is 1.5 mm thinner and weighs three grams less than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, measuring 1.6 mm in thickness and weighing 236 grams.

The device features interior and exterior screens measuring 8 and 6.5 inches respectively—slightly larger than the 7.6 and 6.3 inches of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Additionally, this smartphone boasts 16 GB of RAM, up from 12 GB in the Galaxy Fold 6, enhancing its performance particularly for AI-related tasks using Samsung’s Galaxy AI technology.

Enhanced Camera and Innovative Features

These AI tasks include real-time conversation interpretation, image editing, audio synthesis, and transcription functions. Samsung aims to help users “unleash” their creativity with these capabilities.

Another significant upgrade is the rear camera. The special edition’s rear sensor has been boosted to 200 megapixels, a substantial increase from the standard model’s 50 megapixels, making it a dream for smartphone photography enthusiasts.

Price and Availability

Samsung has set the Galaxy Z Fold SE’s suggested retail price at 2,789,600 won, approximately $2,025. So far, no pricing details have been released for the Chinese market. While fundamentally similar to other models in the Galaxy Z Fold series, the SE is currently the thinnest and lightest. It might be challenging to acquire if you are not in Korea or China, but Samsung might change this in the future.
