Spotify Expands Audiobook Library Through Deal with Bloomsbury Publisher

Spotify has expanded its audiobook library through a partnership with publisher Bloomsbury, providing users with a wider range of content.
Spotify Expands Its Audiobook Library
Music streaming giant Spotify is broadening its audiobook range through a partnership with Bloomsbury. Over 1,000 titles from renowned authors like Sarah J Maas, Alan Moore, and Ann Patchett are now available.
New Features to Enhance User Experience
Just a day after introducing new audiobook tools such as playlists, visual accompaniments, and a sleep timer, Spotify rolls out fantasy novels for adults like Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke, award-winning books like Cuddy by Benjamin Myers, and children’s adventure stories such as Impossible Creatures by Katherine Rundell.
Talented Narrators for an Immersive Experience
The audiobooks will be narrated by top-tier talents including Meryl Streep, Emilia Clarke, Adjoa Andoh, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Listeners can also enjoy non-fiction titles by prominent historians like Peter Frankopan, and the anthology Want, collected by Gillian Anderson.
Spotify began offering audiobooks in the US a year ago. Premium subscribers get 15 hours of content monthly, which can be topped up with an additional 10 hours for $12.99. With audiobooks typically lasting 8-12 hours, Premium subscribers at $11 can enjoy about one book per month.
Increased Competition for Amazon Audible
Bloomsbury already offers its audiobooks on Amazon Audible, with many of the titles mentioned above available on that platform. Depending on the audiobook, it may be cheaper to purchase directly rather than topping up your Spotify account if you plan to listen to multiple titles in a month.
In summary, with this diversification, Spotify continues to establish itself as a major player in streaming, moving beyond just music.
