Spotify Premium Launches Smart Offline Playlist for Areas Without Connectivity!

The latest update from Spotify is impressive, yet it's not enough to make me switch from Apple Music.
Spotify Premium Innovates with “Offline Backup”
Spotify Premium subscribers have a new reason to celebrate. The music streaming giant has recently unveiled a clever update: “Offline Backup”. This smart feature, designed to streamline the management of offline playlists, could be a game-changer for those who enjoy listening to music in areas without internet access.
How Does It Work?
Traditionally, creating playlists for offline listening requires some forethought, but “Offline Backup” takes care of everything. “As you listen to music normally, the app tracks your listening habits and locally saves a selection of tracks you’ve already played into an Offline Backup playlist, ready for use when you lose your connection,” explains Spotify.
The playlist will evolve over time to match your current musical tastes. You can even filter and sort songs by artist, mood, or genre.
Setting Up “Offline Backup”
Despite its simplicity, two steps are necessary to activate this feature. First, ensure the “Offline Listening” option is enabled in the settings under “Data Savings and Offline.” Second, “Offline Backup” only activates after listening to more than five recent songs.
Once these conditions are met, the playlist automatically appears in your home feed as soon as you go offline. This tool could prove invaluable during a long road trip without internet connection or a flight without Wi-Fi.
A Useful Feature, But Not Enough for Everyone
Undoubtedly, Spotify’s “Offline Backup” is a thoughtful feature. However, it’s not enough to convince some users to reactivate their Premium account. Despite its benefits, Spotify faces tough competition in terms of value from other music streaming services, particularly Apple Music when bundled with the Apple One subscription.
