T-Mobile is now offering fiber optic internet connections with speeds reaching up to 2 Gbps. Customers can benefit from stable rates, as the company guarantees no price increases on its fiber plans for the next five years.

  • T-Mobile launches fiber service for 500,000 U.S. homes.
  • Three plans with five-year price guarantee offered.
  • Ambitious goal: reach up to 15 million addresses by 2030.

Strategic Moves in the Fiber Market

It’s not every day that a new heavyweight steps into the fiercely contested U.S. residential internet sector, but now, T-Mobile is making its presence felt — and not just with another wireless offer. Leveraging its experience from 5G Home Internet, the company recently confirmed it will roll out its dedicated fiber service, aptly named « T-Mobile Fiber ». This launch initially covers more than half a million homes nationwide, marking a significant shift in the landscape of American broadband.

Pricing Innovation and Customer Commitment

One feature stands out immediately: a « five-year price guarantee » — quite a rarity in an industry where prices often creep upwards. According to broadband chief Allan Samson, this offer is no accident: « With the official launch of T-Mobile Fiber, we’re delivering on our promise to bring better broadband access — in true Un-carrier fashion. Our new plans and their price lock are designed to offer more choice and peace of mind. »

Subscribers can choose from three options tailored for today’s demanding digital uses:

  • Fiber 500: 500 Mbps at $80/month ($75 with autopay; $60 for mobile customers)
  • Fiber 1 Gig: 1 Gbps at $95/month ($90 with autopay; $75 bundled with mobile)
  • Fiber 2 Gig: Up to 2 Gbps for as much as $110/month (special rates may apply)

A Calculated Expansion Strategy

Behind this commercial push lies a broader plan. The entry into fiber stems from a pivotal deal with supplier Lumos, which dovetails neatly with ongoing efforts to acquire Metronet. These moves provide T-Mobile with the tools required to extend coverage swiftly and efficiently.

Although only a fraction of U.S. households are included at launch, ambitions soar much higher: targets range from twelve to fifteen million addresses covered by the end of 2030—potentially more if conditions allow. As the company recently noted, « By relying on existing local infrastructure, T-Mobile is accelerating its growth while bringing added value and flexibility to consumers. »

A Shifting Landscape for U.S. Broadband?

Of course, competition remains fierce: rivals are scrambling to trial next-generation Wi-Fi solutions and home routers. But the arrival of T-Mobile Fiber, especially given its rare long-term pricing commitments and symmetric speeds up to two gigabits per second, may well shake up an industry long accused of stagnation. Whether these bold promises can be sustained over time — well, that remains the question many will be watching closely in the coming years.
