Three New Anti-Theft Features on Android: Explore Their Capabilities

Android has introduced three new anti-theft features. Let's explore what each one does.
Google Boosts Android Security with New Features
Technology giant Google has recently introduced new security enhancements for Android, aimed at beefing up anti-theft protection. These updates are rolling out to user devices, making it crucial to keep your device updated to benefit from Google’s new security offerings.
Compatibility and Deployment
Revealed at the Google I/O event last May, these features are now accessible through an update to Google’s mobile services. They are compatible with all Android devices running Android 10 or later, not just the upcoming Google Android 15 update. This is great news for those still using older but fully functional hardware.
New Anti-Theft Measures
Google’s anti-theft strategy includes three key components:
Theft Detection: If the phone senses it has been stolen (based on movement data and an algorithm), it locks the screen and requires your password or fingerprint again.
Offline Device Lock: This feature locks the phone if someone disables its internet connections, a common thief tactic to prevent you from tracking your device.
Remote Lock: If a thief accesses your phone, you can lock it remotely by visiting the Android website, entering your phone number, and answering a security question. Google allows this feature to be used up to twice a day.
How to Activate These New Features?
If these new anti-theft features from Google are available on your phone, you can activate them by opening the Settings app, navigating to the Google menu, tapping on All services, and finally selecting Personal & Device Security. This should provide additional peace of mind about the possibility of recovering your phone if stolen, without the thief accessing sensitive data.
