U.S. Ravaged by Hurricane Helene: 155 Dead, 600 Missing

During their campaign for the U.S. presidency, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris individually visited areas affected by disasters. What will their next move be?
Presidential Visit to Disaster Zones
U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are each visiting regions devastated by Hurricane Helene.
This action comes amid the American presidential campaign, where disaster management is a key issue.
Regions Still Struggling
Days after the catastrophic impact of Hurricane Helene, the Southeastern United States is struggling to recover. Over 1.4 million homes and businesses remain without electricity, as reported by poweroutage.us.
Many areas are still unreachable by road, complicating rescue operations.

Rising Human Toll
North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper expressed his dismay at the extent of the damage. “The devastation caused by Hurricane Helene is beyond imagination,” he stated.
His state, the hardest hit, reported at least 74 deaths on Tuesday. Liz Sherwood-Randall, Homeland Security Advisor to Joe Biden, noted that 600 people are still missing.
Presidential Campaign and Crisis Management
The visits by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris occur against a backdrop of tension. Former President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump criticized the federal government for not being “responsive” to the magnitude of the disaster. Biden responded by calling the accusation “false and irresponsible”.
