Vache qui rit, Kiri, and Boursin to Phase Out Aluminum Packaging Soon
Moving forward, Bel Group's Vache qui rit, Kiri, and Boursin cheeses will now be packaged in 100% recyclable materials, marking a significant step towards environmental conservation.
Bel Adopts an Eco-friendly Approach
The Bel Group has recently announced exciting news for eco-conscious consumers. Childhood favorites such as La Vache qui rit, Kiri, and Boursin will soon be packaged in a new guise: 100% recyclable paper wrapping.
Goodbye Aluminum, Hello Recyclable Paper
The nostalgic memories of these delicate cheeses wrapped in their distinctive aluminum packaging are set to become a thing of the past. Aligning with a European Parliament directive from March 4, 2024, stating that all food packaging must be recyclable by 2030, Bel Group is stepping up.
In response, Bel Group unveiled its “paper portion creation,” an environmentally friendlier packaging solution. Currently in the testing phase, this new packaging has been developed exclusively for Kiri.
A Recyclable Future for Our Favorite Cheeses
A statement from Bel Group highlights, “A production line at the Sablé-sur-Sarthe factory, where all of France’s Kiri is made, is already capable of producing these paper-wrapped portions.”
However, it will be a while before these new paper portions hit French supermarkets. Bel Group anticipates that these packages will be market-ready by 2026-2027, due to the necessary industrial investments to modify the production line.
The Taste Remains Unchanged
Despite the packaging shift, consumers can rest assured: the taste of these cheeses, so reminiscent of childhood, will stay the same. Get ready to enjoy your favorite cheeses while contributing to the preservation of our planet.
