The first Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event of 2025 is set for January 22 in San Jose, California. All eyes are on Samsung as they gear up to reveal their “Next Big Thing”. What will Samsung surprise us with this time?
The New Galaxy S25 Series
The event is almost certain to launch the new Galaxy S25 smartphone series. Following Samsung’s recent trend, expect to see three flagship models – standard, Plus, and Ultra – unveiled. A FCC certification, first spotted by 91Mobiles, seems to confirm this expectation.
Rumors indicate a subtle redesign in the phones’ aesthetics with rounded corners, flatter edges, and slimmer bezels. However, despite the recent hiring of a former Mercedes-Benz designer, don’t anticipate any drastic aesthetic shifts.
Technical Specs and Features
According to Android Headlines, the Galaxy S25 and S25+ will maintain last year’s screen sizes at 6.2 and 6.7 inches respectively, while the Ultra model will feature a slightly larger 6.9-inch screen.
The new smartphones will likely be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, tailored for on-device generative AI, aligning with Samsung’s recent push for enhanced AI in their Galaxy lineup.
As for the cameras, only the ultra-wide sensor of the S25 Ultra will see an upgrade, going from 12MP to 50MP according to Ice Universe. The new models are also expected to incorporate the new Qi2 standard for wireless charging.
